The brave and honorable lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North, Eddard “Ned” Stark, is one of the main characters in the world of Game of Thrones – at least in the first season and in the context of literacy. He was raised by Jon Arryn, the Lord of the Eyrie and the head of House Arryn, together with his foster brother Robert Baratheon from the age of eight to their adolescence.
He married Lady Catelyn to secure the support of the House Tully when he, together with Robert and Arryn, rose in revolt againsts the so-called “Mad King” who executed both Rickard and Brandon – his father and brother respectively. Their marriage brought five children: Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Rickon who grew up with his bastard son Jon Snow.
