Legolas Greenleaf, son of Thranduil, is a Sindarin Elf who is one of the members of the fellowship of the ring along with Aragorn, Gimli, Frodo Baggins, Boromir, Samwise Gamgee, Gandalf, Peregrin Took (Pippin) and Meriadoc Brandybuck (Merry). He is armed with a bow and arrows and one “long white knife” which hangs by his side. He prefers to pierce his enemies from afar, but he does use in close combat sometimes his daggers.
It was when Legolas attended a secret meeting at the council of Elrond in Rivendell when he became one of the members of the fellowship. He actually came as a messenger from his father to discuss Gollum‘s escape from their guard, however, was chosen to be a member of the Fellowship that intended to destroy the One Ring and so he accompanied the other members in their travels serving as the group’s archer.
The hate and rocky relationship between dwarves and elves began long ago in a land known as Erebor; when Thranduil abandoned the Dwarves during the attack of Dragon Smaug. The mutual relationship of Legolas and Gimli, however, crossed a different path though there is an ancient quarrel between their races. They even engaged in an Orc-slaying contest in the Battle of the Hornburg which Gimli won by one.
Here’s a collection of graphic design artworks illustrating Legolas Greenleaf as one of the members of the fellowship of the ring aiming to destroy the One Ring. Though he was described by Tolkien “as tall as a young tree, lithe, immensely strong, able swiftly to draw a great war-bow and shoot down a Nazgûl, endowed with the tremendous vitality of Elvish bodies“, you’ll see a diffirent version of his personality in this collection.
