There is actually a bit of innovation occurring every day. If you are one of the conventional type of office workers, then you probably have a boring workstation. Have you been left behind in the technological advances for the office over the past, oh I don’t know, decade or so?

Don’t worry, there’s still time to catch up. And thankfully, if you’re still caught in the Stone Age that was the 1990’s, there’s still hope for you, especially if you look into these 7 innovative office must-haves.

Wall-Mounted Wireless Printer

Wall-Mounted Wireless Printer
Get rid of the clunky old thing that sits in the corner of your office that you still like to call a printer, and replace it with a small and discreet wall-mounted wireless printer. Yeah, that’s a lot of mumbo jumbo, I’m sure, for you less technologically-advanced office folk out there, so allow me to explain.

This is a tiny version of a printer that actually looks like a photo frame that gets mounted to the wall of your office. Forget the messy wires running from your computer to your printer, too – this printer is completely wireless, so you can send documents and photos to print without hassling with a million cord connections. It’s visually appealing and practical – how much more perfect could it get for your office?

USB Cup Warmer/Cooler

USB Cup Warmer/Cooler
Never let your coffee get cold at your desk again! And keep a can of soda cold for hours. You can do both of these things with a USB cup warmer and cooler, all for about $25.

It looks just like a simple coaster, but it plugs into the USB port of your computer and acts as a hot plate or cold plate, depending on how you set it. Try to avoid anything that looks too bulky, though – there are imitators out there that make huge USB cup warmers, but you’re going for a futuristic look, so of course style is key. Keep it simple and sleek.

Magic Mouse

Magic Mouse
Meant to be used instead of the clunky poor excuse for a mouse that’s currently on your desk, the MagicMouse was developed by Worcester Polytechnic Institute students (kids are so smart these days…) and is worn on your hand just like a ring.

It’s considered a 3D computer mouse, meant to be used by simply pointing at the screen or moving your hand closer or farther away from the screen to zoom in or out. The transmitter sits directly on top of your ring finger on your right hand, so moving your mouse becomes as simple as moving your arm around. You don’t even have to touch anything.

The WPI students used a relatively low budget to create the mouse, around $150, and they plan to develop it further, so just imagine what the possibilities will be with this thing in the next couple of years! And all at a fairly reasonable price.

USB Refrigerator

USB Refrigerator
Similarly to the USB cup warmer/cooler, a USB refrigerator sits on your desk and runs off power that’s generated by your computer through its USB port. It’s just big enough to fit a can of soda (or a beer, if you’re really feeling stressed at work!) and barely takes up any additional space on your desk, but it’s just so cool that you have to have one.

And for only about $35, it’s easy to get one, too. Now you won’t have to get up and walk to the refrigerator in the break room every time you’d like a cold soda. It even comes with a 4-foot USB cable so that it doesn’t have to be placed right next to your computer, but just somewhere in the general vicinity for your convenience.

Stokke Gravity Balans Desk Chair

Stokke Gravity Balans Desk Chair
Yeah it sounds a little funky, but that’s just because it’s developed by a foreign designer. But have you ever gotten so tired of sitting at your desk that you feel like you need to lie down for a couple of minutes? That’s exactly what this chair is for!

The chair has a reclining position that literally mimics laying down. Once you put it in recline, the giant rockers on the bottom tilt you all the way back until your body is parallel to the ground. Now that’s relaxation! It’s the coolest desk chair out there and is expected to completely transform the market of office furniture in the coming years.

Tetra-Shed

Tetra-Shed
Rid your office of those ugly cubicles you’ve insisted on keeping up all of this time and start replacing them with something more futuristic! The Tetra-Shed is a cubicle replacement design that looks like a high-tech sort of tent with doors and even windows.

It offers up a ton of desk space and even some shelving and solid walls. Plus it has the luxury of closing doors when whoever is working in it wants some privacy. They look a little funky, but that’s just because they’re so futuristic – almost like giant space capsules in the office. But like a bunch of them up in a row, as you would cubicles, and you’ll have yourself a space that’s a cross between a really strange looking campsite and a geometrically-shaped field of giant rocks. Might not sound glamorous, but it is.

These new cubicles could even be used as a mobile office or at least a garden office if you want a home office that’s separate from your actual home. They’re so new, though, that there’s still no word yet on pricing.

Robo Vacuum

Robo Vacuum
Sure, you may have been living under a rock for the past 10 or 15 years, but you had to have heard about home cleaning robots that you can purchase and program to automatically go around your home picking up after you. Well the Robo Vacuum is just a mini version!

Built for cleaning your desk, a Robo Vacuum quickly and easily picks up little messes like crumbs and small pieces of paper. It runs off battery power and doesn’t use a bag, so he’s easy to clean out when he’s full. It’s more of a desktop novelty than an actually useful gadget, but it’s just so darn cute that every desk deserves to have one!
Oh, and they’re only about $15, which makes them even cuter.
